1948
Origins
It was 1948, and in a post-war San Sebastián that was beginning to emerge, Manuel Gonzalez took his first steps in the world of leather goods. He decided to set up his own business with eight years of experience as a saddler.
1950
A great success
In 1950, due to the great success of the suitcases they manufactured, they moved the workshop to larger premises on Calle Fuenterrabía. From there, Manolo (as he liked to be called) and Pepi gradually began to incorporate new products. First came belts, then heeled purses and handbags.
1965
January 2, key date
January 2, 1965, is a key date in the history of both businesses. The company took on a new dimension when it moved to larger premises at 12 San Martín Street, where it expanded its product range and officially registered the name BOX San Sebastián as a trademark, honoring, among other reasons, the name of the legendary quality of bovine leather tanning that it had used for years: the famous BOXCALF.

Design and quality
Since the mid-1970s, the brand has focused on design, quality, and good service in its quest to establish its own identity.
1977
Symbols of San Sebastián:

1991
Collaboration with ELK
The main collaboration took place between 1991 and 1995, when Gerardo González, now creative director at BOX San Sebastián, designed and coordinated Enrique Loewe Knappe’s bags and leather goods in the collection bearing his initials, ELK.
2000
The running board
At the beginning of this century, BOX San Sebastián decided to strengthen its brand image, designing a double stirrup facing each other, placed vertically, which stands as the brand’s new symbol.

Expansion
In 2007, BOX San Sebastián opened a new store at number 10 Calle Peñaflorida. In addition to the handbags, leather goods, and travel items that had been popular for years, it introduced clothing, gloves, jewelry, and decorative items, creating an elegant and distinguished atmosphere that was 100% leather.
